Dustin is passionate about helping his clients navigate the sometimes confusing world of finance and enjoys working with them to solve problems; identify and prioritize financial goals; and create income, savings and retirement strategies that bring long-term peace of mind, stability and growth. Dustin believes clients are like family, and that each client is unique. As a result, Dustin strives to develop personal, long-term relationships with his clients that extend over generations.
Dustin’s interest in financial services began at an early age, as he listened to his father recount his day as a Financial Advisor at the family dinner table. With a desire to follow in his father’s footsteps, Dustin studied Economics at San Diego State University. During his senior year, Dustin worked as an intern for a financial planning firm, an experience that solidified his passion for the industry. Following his graduation from SDSU Dustin broadened his expertise working for a life insurance company before joining Windus Fernandez Brinkkord’s Wealth Advisory Group at Trilogy Financial Service’s San Diego office.
Dustin grew up in Northern California’s Silicon Valley. He was enrolled in an ice hockey league at the age of four, and developed a lifelong love for the sport and being part of a team. Dustin credits his years on the ice for imparting invaluable lessons in team building and the positive results gained through hard work and dedication; qualities and skills he shares with the San Diego team.
In his free time, Dustin enjoys playing hockey, going on adventures with his wife JoAnn, and spending time with their Staffordshire Terrier, Bubbs, who is very fond of belly rubs.
FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) is trending as a new financial lifestyle. FIRE promotes extreme savings in your 20s, 30s and 40s, with the goal of being able to live off passive income from the accumulated nest egg much earlier than typical retirement age.
Preparation for retirement is extremely important, and it extends well beyond finances. That’s why you need to work on your retirement compatibility with your partner way before you stop working.
Retirement is the final chapter to solidify your life’s success. How that looks, though, is entirely up to you.
